Isn’t it incredible?
Just think about it for a moment.
Just think about how complicated and complex you are.
You know that how you show up isn’t always “you” – it’s carefully curated through years of learned experiences.
You know that sometimes, you might have to be quieter and more reflective; other times, more sociable and gregarious.
You might be at your best under pressure, with things arriving at the last minute. But you’ve learned to plan and organise.
You recognise that your emotions change you. You’ll behave differently if you’ve been struck in traffic and spilled your coffee down you compared to arriving calm and prepared.
You see that your language, activity and approach is different when you’re with friends versus clients versus family – even though you’re being “authentic”.
And isn’t it incredible that we can distill all that complexity – all that nuance, all that intricacy, all that contextual flexibility – into a couple of primary colours?
Spoiler alert: You can’t
There’s nothing inherently wrong about categorising broadly, as a way to start conversations about our differences.
But, if you want to discover the full rainbow of who you are, we need to think outside of “Fiery red” or “Earth green”.
