When are you at your best?
My personality “wiring” is most efficient when I’m being imaginative, conceptual and creative.
When I’m not being those things – when I’m being more structured, organised and disciplined – it takes more effort.
(You can see the effort in orange, courtesy of a smart watch.)
I can do those things. It just means it’s harder to relax when I’m finished and it’s exhausting.
You have these things too.
🐝 Maybe it’s when you have to deal with other people’s emotions
🐝 Maybe it’s having to be the centre of attention or overly social
🐝 Maybe it’s having tough conversations
You can do these things.
It just takes more cognitive effort.
So we might avoid it. We might not have the conversation, or we might avoid the event.
But when do you lean in to it?
My #SundayLongRead (a 2,500-3,000 word article I publish each week) is not just me creating some content for LinkedIn and my website.
It refreshes me.
(Look at that blue! That’s like I’m asleep!)
I’m being energy efficient, in terms of my mental processes.
I’m “wired” to do that – and my body rewards me with happy hormones and better sleep.
Personality is not about being red or blue.
It’s not about Resource Investigator, ENTP or The Reformer.
It’s not about labels.
It’s about when are you at your best and what derails you.
