I just “lost” two coaching clients to start 2025.
And that’s a good thing.
A coach – a proper, accredited, and experienced trained coach – partners with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires then to maximise their personal and professional potential towards a specific goal or goals.
That’s the ICF’s definition.
It’s a bit wordy, but a great explanation of what choaches should do.
Once the goal has been achieved, what happens?
Well, there’s two options:
🐝 The coach continues the commercial relationship, continuing to take payment from the client, despite the goal being achieved; or
🐝 The project ends
If a client wishes to work on a new goal, then that is fabulous.
We start the process again.
But if the goal is the goal, my belief is that we shouldn’t be continuing to expect pay for a relationship. That’s not what coaches are, do, or expect.
Nanny McPhee says it better than I ever could:
“When you need me, but don’t want me, I have to stay.
When you want me, but no longer need me, then I have to go.”
So, if you need a coach, you don’t need to wait for a storm and to find clues about me around your home.
I’m just a message away for an intro.
