“We know we’re doing well – but we don’t know why.”
If you’ve worked with me, you’ll know that I avoid “bin fires”.
Those businesses that resemble the scene in ‘Airplane II: The Sequel’, when the passengers find out there’s no coffee.
Mess everywhere. People fighting. Carnage.
The challenge is that, when we think of culture, this is how we might picture a “bad” one.
But culture is a tool. There is no good or bad*
It either helps you toward your goal, or it makes things that little bit harder to achieve.
And if it makes things a little bit harder, it doesn’t mean that the business is unsuccessful.
Often, my clients are high-performing environments and can be great places to work.
But how much better could they be in achieving that performance if their culture was aligned purposefully?
This is what Business Psychologists do.
To paraphrase an advert that I’m obviously too young to remember (cough):
“We’re not just there for the bad things in life, like a leaky drain or a broken window.”
We can also identify what you’re great at – then amplify that greatness.
