There is no self-development without self-awareness.
You can read many books. But until you can read yourself, you’re missing out on the important stuff.

“I’ve got an idea. How about we book a venue – somewhere like the Double Tree – and invite other businesses to join us at a mini-EXPO? It’ll be great for networking and generating some leads!”
[Team Member 2]:
“The Double Tree is lovely. Their breakfast menu isn’t very good though. So we should probably do it as a late afternoon or evening event.”
[Team Member 3]:
“Businesses won’t come in the evening. Plus you’ll have all the people checking in after 3pm, so the car park will be full.”
[Team Member 2]:
“You’re right. It’s not a very big car park.”
[Team Member 4]:
“If we’re going to exhibit, we’re going to need everyone to PAT test anything electrical. Last time I was at the Double Tree, they wouldn’t let us set our stands out until they’d seen the PAT testing certs.”
[Team Member 2]:
“How much space would people have? Most might only bring a pull-up banner. Should we just say ‘no electricals’?”
[Team Member 3]:
“You can’t exhibit without a monitor.”
[Team Member 4]:
“I have. Just need to think about leaflets and things instead.”
[Team Member 2]:
“I know a great printer. Really good quality and quick.”

Lovely friendly chat – but, decision paralysis.
These are all valid points in the discussion.
But the environment we nurture and lack of understanding of how we and others tend to see the world can result in a lack of action or decisions.
This is where a business psychologist can add value.
We can:
🐝 provide insight in to individual’s differences
🐝 identify strengths, virtues and blind spots
🐝 help put you at your best
🐝 create a purposeful, intentional environment that supports your goals
If you recognise that you have a great team of people, but you’d like to improve your decision making and achieve your goals more quickly, speak with a business psychologist.
Or, we can leave you to finish this story how it tends to end:
“Great ideas, team. Lots to consider.
Let’s put a pin in it and we can have a think ready for next week’s meeting.
OK? Have a great weekend!”
