Me: “I grew a cauliflower!”
Pedants: “No you didn’t. ‘grow‘ is an intransitive verb.”
Don’t you just hate pedantic arguments?
Unfortunately, they’re not wrong.
I didn’t actually grow the cauliflower. It did that on its own.
What I did do was create the right environment for it, so it could flourish by itself.
The same is true of other growth: “I grew my business.”
No. You took care of the inputs.
You nurtured the environment. You developed the right approaches and support. You tended diligently.
The result is that the business grew.
If you didn’t do those things, would you business have grown?
Would the cauliflower have flourished?
Creating the environment – nurturing that culture – is where the power of growth truly lies…
